Report Najib Two Ex Ministers Among Six To Face Corruption Charges

(The Star) – Former prime minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, two former ministers, a former deputy minister and two others are expected to face charges over various corruption offences, Berita Harian reported.
The Malay daily reported that the two others were an aide to Najib and a Member of Parliament.
The report said Najib, as well as his former aide and a former minister were involved in investigations over the controversial solar panel project for schools in rural Sarawak.
On the solar panel project, it was previously reported that the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) had already questioned several individuals, including Najib’s former aide as well as former education minister Datuk Seri Mahdzir Khalid.
In addition, the report added that the former minister who is expected to be charged next week was involved in the sale of the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) land.
It was reported that former federal territories minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor had been called up 12 times by the MACC over investigations into the dubious land deals involving DBKL.
Tengku Adnan previously said that he had nothing to do with the approval of land deals between DBKL and private developers as he had handed the land back to Putrajaya.
Federal Territories Minister Khalid Abdul Samad had earlier set up a special task force to review previous dubious land deals.
Following this, the special task force terminated 14 out of 97 land deals, while it has decided to go ahead with 43 transactions valued at RM1.642bil as land was sold above the RM1.433bil valuation.
The report also said that the former deputy minister, who is expected to be charged soon, was believed to be involved in the alleged misappropriation of RM25mil from the National Film Development Corporation (Finas).
The report added that the MP, who was a former chairman of a government-linked agency, would be charged soon with allegedly receiving kickbacks from various government projects.
Najib is already facing 32 charges ranging from corruption, criminal breach of trust and money laundering.
