Report Aug 15 Meeting Of Bn Top Leaders On Ge15 Preparation

BN has called for a supreme council meeting on Aug 15 which will focus on the coalition’s preparations for the 15th general election (GE15), according to a report.
The Star Online today quoted “highly placed sources” who said the meeting will also seek to obtain feedback from leaders of the coalition’s component parties.
“(Umno deputy president Mohamad Hasan) is expected to share with us the strengths and weaknesses of BN at the state level,” said a BN source.
Mohamad is currently on a nationwide tour with other BN leaders.
It was also reported that the heads of BN component parties have been notified about the upcoming meeting by the coalition’s secretary-general Zambry Abdul Kadir, even though official invites have yet to be sent out.
The source also said GE15 will likely be held after the tabling of Budget 2023 at the Dewan Rakyat in October, due to the “feel good” factor of the various initiatives under the national budget.
BN sources purportedly said they have a “tight” schedule for GE15 preparations and that they were pushing for a November election.
Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has been a vocal supporter of an early general election and he last made the call again on Thursday (Aug 4).
That was four days after the expiry of Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob’s promise to Pakatan Harapan to not dissolve Parliament as part of their memorandum of understanding (MOU). - Mkini
