Razman Govt Must Ban Becoming Hannah From Being Sold To Muslims
Perak PAS chief Razman Zakaria wants the Home Ministry to review and ban Youth and Sports Minister Hannah Yeoh’s autobiography from being sold openly at bookstores to Muslims.
He has also filed a police report urging for Yeoh to be investigated for evangelism as allegedly espoused in her book.
“I’m making this police report to enable police to investigate the evangelist movement involving Yeoh, which is against the position of Islam as the religion of the federation, and that it is also a criminal offence to sell the book (‘Becoming Hannah’) openly in which it can be read by Muslims,” he stated in the police report.
The report included excerpts from Yeoh’s autobiography in which she spoke about her Christian faith and how being in politics had allowed her to serve God’s will.
Yeoh has denied allegations that she is trying to convert Muslims.
The police report and subsequent statement calling for the book ban were made yesterday.
This was in response to Yeoh sending a letter of demand against Razman for alleging she had an evangelist agenda in a speech in late January.
The Perak PAS chief reiterated that he was facing legal action over the evangelism claims, not because he wrongly claimed she is the daughter of YTL Corporation Berhad’s founder Yeoh Tiong Lay.
Besides calling for a probe against Yeoh and for her book to be banned, Razman also wanted her to resign as minister.
“I urge all Muslims in this country who love Islam and harmony to demand Yeoh resign as youth and sports minister,” he said in his statement.
Over 100 police reports had already been lodged against Yeoh’s autobiography in early January. - Mkini
