Rayer Lodges Police Report Against Hadi Over Ceramah Speech
DAP MP RSN Rayer said PAS president Abdul Hadi Awang’s speech in Rantau was detrimental to parliamentary democracy.PETALING JAYA: DAP’s RSN Rayer has lodged a police report against Abdul Hadi Awang over a speech the PAS president made while campaigning for Perikatan Nasional (PN) in Rantau, Negeri Sembilan.
“I have made a report at the Timur Laut police headquarters in Penang,” the Jelutong MP said at a press conference, adding that he believed Hadi’s activities were detrimental to parliamentary democracy.
This is the second time Rayer has called for an investigation against the PAS president. In March, Rayer urged home minister Saifuddin Nasution Ismail to investigate Hadi for allegedly plotting to topple the government.
On Sunday, Hadi had stressed the importance of PN winning on Aug 12, claiming that a victory in all six states would result in a change in the federal government.
“If we win (the polls in the six states), there will be a change in the federal government. Therefore, it is important for the people to go out and vote,” he said.
Also present at the ceramah was Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu, who said there were various legal processes that could prompt a change in government – despite the existence of the anti-hopping law.
Rayer said Hadi’s statement was irresponsible and could be construed as an act of treason because it went against Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah’s desire for political stability.
“At the opening of this year’s parliamentary session, the King had expressed his wish for the current government to remain until the end of its term, which is for the government led by Anwar Ibrahim to remain for five years.
“Why did Hadi make this statement? This is an action that incites the people and can obviously be interpreted as disobeying the King’s wishes,” he said.
Rayer also said Faizal’s remarks regarding legal processes to change the government were also untrue.
“Faizal, please stop deceiving the people. Saying you can change the federal government is unfounded due to the anti-hopping law,” he said. - FMT
