Rawang Incinerator Project Objection To Be Submitted To State Govt
Rawang assemblyperson Chua Wei Kiat has assured that he will weigh in on his constituents’ objection against the Selangor government's plan to build a waste-to-energy (WTE) incinerator plant in the area.
The Pakatan Harapan representative said it is unfair for Rawang residents to be placed at risk especially when the plant is planned at a location nearby housing areas.
"Until this day, there has been no incinerator success story in Malaysia, and it is unfair to put the people of Rawang and Kuang at risk of pollution.
"Furthermore, Batu Arang is a heritage location with its coal mine history, and the people there are concerned about their safety with this plan to build a WTE incinerator plant.
"After the new Selangor government is formed, I will bring the people's objection against this project to the state government leadership," he said in a statement on Facebook.

The Selangor government has yet to be formed, pending the swearing-in ceremony of its new menteri besar. It is scheduled to be held tomorrow morning.
Chua also voiced his objection against the incinerator project during his recent election campaign, including at a ceramah with caretaker menteri besar Amirudin Shari.
Yesterday, a residents group held a press conference to urge the Selangor government to call off the proposed incinerator project in Rawang.
