Rapidkl Buses To Go Completely Cashless In Klang Valley From April 15
RapidKL will be rolling out cashless payments in stages from 15 April onwards. — K. T. GOH/The StarRapidKL has announced that their buses will be swapping to a completely cashless payment system in the Klang Valley on April 15
The new payment system will completely replace cash payments, and instead will require passengers to pay using either a Touch N' Go (TNG) card or the Rapid KL Unlimited Pass (My100 & My50). TNG card users will also be entitled to 20% off the normal bus fare
The company says that with the new cashless system senior citizens, the disabled and students will still be entitled to half-priced fare, but that they will be required to apply for the MyRapid Touch n' Go Concession Card instead to enjoy the discount
Similar to how cashless payments worked previously, users need only tap their TNG card or unlimited pass when boarding their bus, and then tap their card again when they are getting off the bus. According to the announcement tweet from RapidKL, the rollout will be done in stages starting in Ampang on April 15. The tweet also lists the bus routes that are making the change to cashless payments
For users who do not have a TNG card, they will be able to purchase one from RapidKL buses once they make the change to fully cashless payments. The cards will cost RM10 and be preloaded with RM4.80 of credit
