Rakyat Fed Up With Faizal S Gimmicks Aziz Bari
Perak DAP vice-chairperson Abdul Aziz Bari has branded Ahmad Faizal Azumu's promise to return his RM27,000 salary as a special advisor as merely a gimmick.
According to the Tebing Tinggi assemblyperson, such a gimmick will only invite further distrust by the rakyat instead of stopping criticisms directed at the youth and sports minister.
In a statement yesterday, Aziz said that Faizal should have rejected his appointment as special adviser to former prime minister Muhyiddin Yassin administration as it was too large, unnecessary and burdened the rakyat.
"The rakyat is fed up with Ahmad Faizal Azumu's various gimmicks … This action (returning the salary) will not stop criticisms thrown at him.
"It is better for Faizal to remain silent and devote time towards ensuring a successful portfolio, instead of wasting time doing trivial things such as promoting curry mee that has no relevance to his role as an MP and administrative role," he said.
During his 11-day term, Ahmad Faizal captured netizens' attention when he took to social media to comment on a bowl of curry mee he made; this is believed to be what Aziz referred to in his statement.
Aziz added that the rakyat, especially those residing in Perak, have not forgotten Faizal's actions during his term as Perak's menteri besar, including leaving Pakatan Harapan, resulting in the rakyat's mandate to be bargained away.
This was despite him previously accusing others of sabotaging the state government's administration.
Former Perak MB Ahmad Faizal Azumu
Yesterday, Faizal pledged to return the entire RM27,000 salary he received as the prime minister's special adviser for 11 days.
He said the money would go into the Covid-19 fund.
Ahmad Faizal was appointed as a special advisor to Muhyiddin on Aug 5, but 11 days later, Muhyiddin stepped down as prime minister after losing his majority.
Many speculated if the appointment was an attempt to buy support. Faizal is the vice-president of Bersatu, whereas Muhyiddin is the president.
Details of Faizal's salary were questioned in Parliament last week, and Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob revealed that the total salary received by Ahmad Faizal amounted to RM27,227.20, paid pro-rata given the short period of service.
In response to Lim Lip Eng, Ismail Sabri added that the amount included a replacement for termination of service notice with one month's salary. - Mkini
