Questions Anwar Must Answer On Aide S Exit Albert S Claims
YOURSAY | ‘Clear your name, sue Tei for defamation, Anwar.’
Anwar accepts aide’s resignation, won't interfere with MACC probe
Shamsul lodges report against Albert over ‘PM greenlit recordings’ claim
Cogito Ergo Sum: Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, to clear yourself, you need to lodge a police report against businessperson Albert Tei. Then, sue him for defamation.
That video released by Tei, which is now on social media, while hearsay, is very damaging.
If and when MACC investigates your political aide, Shamsul Iskandar Akin, you must step down. This is common sense, as one of your top aides is being probed for corruption.

Prime Minister Anwar IbrahimIf you don’t step down, there is the danger of bias to protect you. You know Malaysians very well. Perception and optics are very important.
To allay fears of bias and interference, step aside until the probe is over. The powers of the investigative bodies are very well known for their efficiency, speed, and thoroughness. You should be in the clear by next week.
Taas: Why did Anwar accept his aide’s resignation if he earlier claimed that the letter was vague? Why didn’t he suspend him from duty until the investigations are complete, despite the recent exposé with overwhelming and damning evidence?
If Tei’s exposé contains elements of falsehood, the first thing on the mind of public officers in power is to sue for defamation to sustain “credibility”. The lack of an appropriate response makes for imagination in the minds of people.
Ganmu: I fail to understand Anwar’s readiness to accept his staff’s resignation without any question. In an earlier misconduct (issuing a support letter to six contractors for a hospital project), he was reprimanded, and the matter was closed.
This is a far more serious breach of the principles of integrity and accountability, and the prime minister quietly accepts Shamsul’s resignation. Why was he not suspended pending an enquiry? Don’t they have a process for serious breaches by government staff?
Surely, the chief secretary to the government should be at the forefront, looking into this serious breach by Shamsul.
Strangely, Anwar’s stress on no tolerance for corruption is not commensurate with strong, effective action by him on those who are accused of corruption. Such an easy escape route is not going to stop others from doing the same, especially those close to him.
MarioT: Reports of corruption and shady activities have become a daily routine in our mass media, indicating a frightening trend that has become a way of life in the civil service, and not even sparing our sports associations.
A contagious trend that is seen to emanate from the top, spreading to the bottom. If there is no strong will to contain it, then there will always be no way.
Falcon: Has there ever been a prime minister’s political secretary making such an exit before? More so, one who came in on a reform narrative and bandwagon?
Far too many missteps! Double speak? Some may say even “'political arrogance”? It was coming all along.
Now it is not just the support letters to be probed but the claims and evidence made public by Tei!
Let no one put caveats on what should be confronted and probed - period!
Salvage Malaysia: Anwar, please drop your ego and listen to the rakyat’s grumblings. The problem is you stopped listening to the people. See how non-stop incidents are coming to haunt you almost every week.
As usual, your comrades, from DAP’s Anthony Loke and Amanah’s Mohamad Sabu, are all keeping quiet. Maybe they don’t even know how to respond, especially Umno, which is observing quietly on the side.
And your opponents are waiting at the gate. Pity PMX. Misstep after misstep.
Blue Fish 0451: A couple of points to consider before we jump the gun: that Anwar is implicated, and he is in trouble.
Firstly, Tei alleged that Shamsul said Anwar gave the blessing to record the videos on the Sabah mining licence scandal. For now, it is hearsay, but Anwar has already given the blessing for MACC to investigate freely and immediately for the truth.

MACCSecondly, even if it is found that Anwar gave the blessing for Tei to produce videos on the scandal, wasn’t Anwar doing his job as a PM to eliminate corruption that involved his partners in the government?
He wasn’t on the take but only wanted to gather evidence, and Tei, the giver, was the best person to furnish the raw evidence for further action.
Constitutional Supremacy: Shamsul, lodging a police report is not enough. You must now sue Tei for defamation, and it must be pursued. You must not withdraw the suit after a few months. - Mkini
