Queen Calls On Graduates To Help Shape Knowledgeable Values Driven Generation

Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia graces UTM’s 69th convocation ceremony today - SULTAN IBRAHIM SULTAN ISKANDAR FB PAGEJOHOR BARU: Her Majesty Raja Zarith Sofiah, Queen of Malaysia, today called on graduates to join hands in nurturing a generation that is learned and of exemplary character, to serve as role models for young people.
According to a post on Sultan Ibrahim Sultan Iskandar's Facebook page, Her Majesty said the generation currently being nurtured, whether at kindergartens, primary and secondary schools, or universities, must not only be equipped with knowledge and skills, but also instilled with noble values and proper conduct.
"Education is not merely a journey to obtain a degree, but a process that shapes character, strengthens values, and cultivates a sense of responsibility within an individual," Her Majesty said.
Raja Zarith Sofiah, who is also the Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM), said this when delivering the royal address at UTM's 69th convocation ceremony here today.
Also in attendance was Che' Puan Mahkota Khaleeda Johor, who is the university's Pro-Chancellor.
Her Majesty also quoted the words of Royal Professor Tan Sri Dr Syed Muhammad Naquib al-Attas: 'Adab (good manners) is not merely etiquette and conduct, but also the discipline of the body, mind, and soul'.
At the same time, the Queen also expressed hope that recent events which have unsettled the nation will serve as lessons, and urged all parties to work together to ensure they do not recur in the future.
