Putrajaya To Publicise Record Of Adverse Effects From Vaccines

Health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad (right) and health director-general Dr Radzi Abu Hassan say the ministry will share its record of all ‘adverse effects following immunisation’ with the public.PUTRAJAYA: The government will soon make public a comprehensive record of all adverse effects following immunisation (AEFI) from Covid-19 vaccines, says health minister Dzulkefly Ahmad.
Dzulkefly said the ministry maintains a detailed record of all AEFI incidents, and will make it accessible to the public.
“We will release it at a time that will be determined by the ministry,” he told reporters after officiating the soft launch of the Malaysia International Healthcare Megatrends 2024 today
Health director-general Dr Radzi Abu Hassan said the ministry will release data on the side effects of all vaccines, and not just AstraZeneca alone.
Apart from AstraZeneca, the approved vaccines that were used in the country’s immunisation exercise during the pandemic were Pfizer, Sinovac, CanSino, Johnson & Johnson, and Sinopharm.
“We want to make it transparent, clear. Give us a little time, and we will share it with you,” Radzi said.
Their comments came following a report by UK media outlet The Telegraph last week, in which British pharmaceutical company AstraZeneca acknowledged in court documents that its Covid-19 vaccine could lead to thrombosis with thrombocytopenia syndrome (TTS), a condition characterised by blood clots and a low blood platelet count.
Dzulkefly had said the ministry will seek an explanation from AstraZeneca on the rare side effects, saying that as a large pharmaceutical company and vaccine manufacturer, they “must provide clarification” and take responsibility. - FMT
