Probe Into Teacher S Improper Video
KAMPAR: A teacher will be investigated over the uploading of a sexually-suggestive video on TikTok.
Deputy Education Minister Datuk Dr Mah Hang Soon said the ministry would need to check on the matter first before taking any action.
“Let us check what actually happened.
“When there is an issue, we always take steps to look into it and will then take the necessary action,” he told a press conference after attending Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman’s 20th anniversary celebration here yesterday.
A teacher has been accused of uploading a sexually suggestive video on TikTok, which received backlash from netizens.
The teacher is believed to have deleted the video and issued an apology on the social media platform, clarifying that he had no ill intent.
He also urged those who had uploaded posts with screencaps of his original video to delete them.
Dr Mah advised teachers to be mindful of their actions and words as they are role models.
“Students will not only acquire knowledge from their teachers at school, they will also pick up some of their actions and behaviours.
“Teachers need to understand their duties and responsibilities, which are primarily to educate children and guide them to become good people with moral values,” he said.
Dr Mah also noted that in the era of social media, Internet users, particularly teachers, have to be more careful when using online platforms.
“What we upload will be viewed by many although at that time we may think it will not go viral.
“Be a good role model for students and to use social media wisely when imparting knowledge,” he said. - Star
