Prices Of Goods Expected To Stabilise Early Next Year Says Pm

Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said when there was  a shortage in the supply of fertilisers, pesticides and feed, prices of food  products tend to go up. (Bernama pic)BERA: Prices of goods are expected to stabilise early next year when countries open up their economic sectors, said Prime Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob.
He said movement restrictions by countries that export food products to Malaysia had resulted in a shortage of their supplies in the country.
“We breed chickens but the chicken feed comes from abroad; likewise fertilisers and pesticides. When there is a limited supply of goods in demand, the prices will go up.
“I believe this situation will improve when the countries concerned open up their economic sectors and production returns to normal.
“Insya-Allah, by early next year, we expect the prices of goods to be stable again,” he said in his speech at a circumcision ceremony at Dewan Majlis Daerah Bera, Padang Luas.
Ismail said the Malaysian Family Sale promotion programme was being organised by the government to provide an avenue for the people to get goods at cheaper prices, as well as give incentives to targeted groups to cushion the impact of price increases.
“I was informed that the sale promotion offers discounts of 20% to 50%.”
Ismail, who is Bera MP, said the sales promotion programme reflects the Malaysian Family spirit as it involves the participation of the Chinese and Indian communities.
“Through this programme, we can strengthen relationships in line with the Malaysian Family concept, where we take care of other people’s families like our own family,” he added.
He said various programmes and projects would continue to be implemented to reduce the people’s burden, and safeguard their interests and welfare.
He said this included infrastructure improvements in rural areas by the rural development ministry, which had been allocated an additional RM500 million to be used for the purpose.
“The allocation has been increased to ensure the rural population also enjoys benefits and  facilities like village roads,” he added.
About 350 children, between the ages of five and 12, participated in the circumcision ceremony organised by Bera Umno Youth. - FMT
