Politics Of The Barbaric

I AM perturbed by info that in run-up to Semenyih by-election, there was a request for all foreign missions and international organisations in Malaysia to cease any engagements with Umno. In other words, severe their ties with the party.

It didn't come as a directive or instruction. It was a 'friendly reminder' for them to put Umno behind their back and ignore them!

This has never happened elsewhere in the world, never in the post-Cold War. Even the late Khomeini, Saddam Hussein and Muammar Gaddafi never did it. North Korea and Cuba too!

However, the request was a 'panic alarm' pressed by someone who wants to see the demise of Umno. I liken this to politics of the barbaric!

As Umno gains momentum not only in Semenyih but the whole country, there is valid reason to resort to this barbarism. Petrified by the wave 'Apa Malu Bossku' and 'Umno Bangkit' are sending down shivers to some people.

The approach reflects authoritarian and dictatorial politics. When the locals are beginning to rise for Umno and Barisan Nasional, almost nothing is left to halt them. The diplomatic corp is maybe their last resort.

The rakyat must realise that it wasn't BN who lied and led them to discomfort. Regardless of how many Umno leaders are thrown to the court, under harassed and subject to open humiliation, the party is gaining strength.

I remember a few high-level meetings with the British, Australia and US diplomats recently which sent signals to Putrajaya that Umno still gets worldwide attention for its 61 years of contribution to the people and country, nothing for Pakatan to match in their 'full-of-lies' 9-month leadership.

To the Diplomatic Corp in Malaysia, Umno remains resilient. The other side is full of hooligans.
