Policeman Who Cleaned Up Accident Debris Praised On Social Media
IPOH: Concerned for the safety of motorists, a policeman here took a broom and dustpan to sweep up debris from an accident on Jalan Raja Ekram.
Koperal Mohd Azizi Muhd Jamal, 36, who is attached to the Pekan Baru police station, said he was on his rounds on a motorcycle two days ago when he saw the accident involving two cars.
The accident occurred at about 11.30am on Oct 16.
He said the first thing he and his colleague did was to manage traffic at the site.
“No one was injured in the accident, and when the cars were towed away, I noticed other vehicles going over the debris.
“Not wanting more accidents, I borrowed a broom and dustpan from a nearby shop, and started sweeping them up, ” said the policeman who has been in the force for 16 years.
The father of three young children said he felt appreciated when people started leaving positive comments on the station’s Facebook page, where his boss had uploaded photos of him cleaning up the debris.
“This was a small contribution, and yet the good comments made my day, ” said Azizi, who is from Selama, Perak.
He said doing community work was nothing new. As a member of a car club, he said he carried out various community projects.
“In the past, I've joined the club’s members in cleaning up orphanages and collecting rubbish along beaches.
“It is a really nice feeling to do little things that can make a difference in the lives of others, ” he added. - Star
