Police Summon 5 Pakatan Indian Leaders Regarding Report Zakir Naik Made Against Them

(FMT) – Police are expected to call five individuals, including a minister, to record their statements following a police report lodged against them by Indian preacher Dr Zakir Naik.
Bukit Aman Criminal Investigation Department (CID) chief Huzir Mohamed said that his officers will call the five individuals by next week to assist in investigations.
The five individuals, namely Human Resources Minister M Kula Segaran, former ambassador Dennis Ignatius, Penang Deputy Chief Minister II P Ramasamy, Bagan Dalam assemblyman Satees Muniady and Klang MP Charles Santiago, were named in Naik’s police report.
The preacher claimed the five had made defamatory statements against him and wanted police to take action under the Penal Code and Sedition Act for defaming him and instigating racial disharmony and hatred among Malaysians.
“We will make sure that all of them come to have their statements recorded,” Huzir said, after attending a function here with fellow senior officers.
He added that police had previously reached out to these individuals.
Meanwhile, Huzir said that two investigation papers into Naik’s alleged statements questioning the loyalty of Indians to the country and remarks on the status of Chinese had been submitted to the public prosecutor‘s office.
Police had classified Naik’s case under Section 504 of the Penal Code for intentional insult with intent to provoke a breach of the peace.
He allegedly said at a Kota Bahru function that Malaysian Indians are more loyal to the Narendra Modi‘s government in India than to the Malaysian government, and described the Malaysian Chinese community as “old guests” who should go back to their ancestral land before he is made to leave the country.
Naik had apologised for any misunderstanding arising from his statements, claiming that these had been taken out of context with “strange fabrications” added.
Over 100 police reports have been lodged against him and Naik had his statement recorded for three days at Bukit Aman.
Meanwhile, Inspector-General of Police Abdul Hamid Bador, who was also present at the same event, said the public prosecutor‘s office had instructed the police to take further action over investigations into a gay sex tape implicating Economic Affairs Minister Azmin Ali.
“The investigation is still active and we are taking steps to complete it.
“We cannot determine how long it will take,” he said when asked about an update on the gay sex video.
Former PKR youth leader Haziq Aziz had admitted to being one of two people in a video of two men engaging in sex acts.
He named Azmin as the other person in the video, a claim that the minister has strongly denied.
