Police Chief Not Linked To Cheras Entertainment Centre Arrests
Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan said the three officers have been transferred to the management department pending investigations.
SHAH ALAM: The Selangor police have denied claims that a police station chief was among three officers arrested while partying at an entertainment centre in Cheras last week.
Those arrested were three rank-and-file men stationed at the Kajang police headquarters and this case does not involve a police station chief, Selangor police chief Hussein Omar Khan told a press conference today. He said they have been transferred to the management department at the Selangor police headquarters pending the outcome of the investigations.
Media reports yesterday indicated that the trio were part of a group of 14 arrested at the entertainment centre on Saturday and who subsequently tested positive for drugs.
Hussein also corrected claims that a sergeant was arrested for organising a private party at the Shah Alam police headquarters on Sept 28.
He is actually a corporal and he has been immediately transferred out of Selangor, he said, without disclosing details.
Hussein added that the corporal’s three supervisors, holding ranks of sergeant, sergeant major and inspector, have also been transferred out to various states, including Johor and Kelantan, for failing to adequately supervise their subordinates.
On a separate matter, Hussein said police had identified three witnesses to assist in the investigation into the dumping of eight barrels of chemical waste in a drain at Kampung Desa Aman, Sungai Buloh.
We are looking for these three witnesses who we believe can help with the investigations, he told the media.
The barrels containing liquid believed to be chemical waste were discovered by the public on Sept 24.
The Sungai Buloh fire and rescue department has since removed the barrels from the site and taken them to a disposal site in Bukit Tagar, Kuala Selangor. - FMT
