PETALING JAYA: A bruise was detected on the back of the two-year-old adopted daughter of a famous cosmetics entrepreneur
Petaling Jaya OCPD Asst Comm Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said medical personnel performed initial checks on the girl and discovered the bruise, but they could not ascertain whether the injury was a result of abuse
"Welfare Department officers have assessed the situation and have advised for the girl to be placed under the temporary care of the entrepreneur's personal assistant
"We have since recorded the statements of various witnesses, but we still need to question a few more to complete the investigation," he said in a statement on Friday (March 6)
He added that the entrepreneur, known as Datuk Aliff, was detained at about 3.30pm on Thursday (March 5)
"We recorded this statement and released him on police bail the same day," ACP Nik Ezanee said
The investigation under Section 31(1)(a) of the Child Act 2001 commenced after a police report was lodged by the entrepreneur's Indonesian housekeeper on Saturday (Feb 29), he added
The entrepreneur had allegedly hit his two-year-old adopted child in a bid to create content for his social media channel
The incident reportedly occurred two months ago at his residence here
According to Berita Harian, the man slapped the two-year-old because he wanted to film the child crying
The daily added that a police report was made, with the complainant claiming that the entrepreneur asked her to hit the child, as well and put the child in a shoe cabinet
The complainant, however, said she refused to do so
A police report pertaining to a child abuse case linking cosmetics entrepreneur Datuk Seri Aliff Syukri and his adopted daughter has been circulating online
Aliff's Instagram account has also been flooded with comments from people asking for an explanation. - Star
