(LLM Twitter pic)KUALA LUMPUR: The police and highway operator PLUS have activated two smartlane routes on the North-South Expressway to deal with congestion as holiday-makers return to the Klang Valley after the Aidilfitri celebrations.
The smartlane system calls for the use of all lanes, including the leftmost space as a temporary lane, to increase lane capacity and help smooth traffic flow.
Federal traffic police director Mat Kasim Karim said the two routes were from the northbound Port Dickson intersection to Seremban intersection, and from the Senai intersection to Kulai intersection.

He said traffic police were posted at hotspot locations on highways, federal and state roads as well as city roads where there is congestion.
Mat Kasim said the public can channel information related to accidents or unusual congestion to the Bukit Aman traffic control room at 03-2266 3356, which operates 24 hours.
