Pn Still In Discussion Over Support For Hajiji
While the newest members of Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor’s cabinet have been sworn in, Perikatan Nasional, however, is still discussing the position of its first PAS representative.
When questioned whether he would continue supporting Hajiji’s latest administration, the newly elected Karambunai state assemblyperson, Aliakbar Gulasan, told Malaysiakini that the coalition has not finalised its decision.
“It is still under discussion within PN. No decision has been made yet regarding discussions with the chief minister,” he said.
Further, PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin also reportedly said that the coalition would have to seek PAS’ insight, before deciding to support Hajiji’s new administration, or if they wanted to play the role of opposition.
PAS won its first-ever Sabah state assembly seat, after Aliakbar (above) defeated 10 other candidates, including incumbent Umno candidate Yakub Khan, winning by less than 400 votes.
Aliakbar had previously served as a non-elected assemblyperson, alongside five others, following the 2020 Sabah state election.
New cabinet line-up
Earlier today, Sabah governor Musa Aman swore in the new state cabinet members in Kota Kinabalu.

Alongside previous leaders from Hajiji’s Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) coalition, also in the line-up are Upko president Ewon Benedick, PKR’s sole assemblyperson Jamawi Jaafar, and BN’s Jafry Ariffin.
Ewon will serve as deputy chief minister III, while Dr Joachim Gunsalam and Masidi Manjun are deputy chief ministers I and II, respectively.
Including Hajiji, Joachim, and Masidi, there are eight GRS cabinet members, and one each from Upko, Pakatan Harapan, and BN.
Notably absent from the cabinet are any representatives from Parti Solidariti Tanah Airku (Star).
Previously, Star president Jeffrey Kitingan had served as deputy chief minister II. However, Jeffrey quit GRS before the election due to disagreements over the coalition's partnership with Harapan.
After the election, Jeffrey pledged the party's two assemblypersons to Hajiji, citing the need for stability. - Mkini
