Pn S Selangor Open House To Target Heart Of State Govt
Perikatan Nasional (PN) is hosting an Aidilfitri open house in Selangor on Sunday (May 21), one week after Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s Hari Raya do in the state.
The events will be almost 50km apart and both are situated in locations that are politically significant.
Anwar’s open house this Saturday is being held in Taman Sri Gombak - part of the Gombak parliamentary constituency which PKR wrested back from Bersatu in last year’s general election.
Two of the three state seats under Gombak - Bukit Antarabangsa and Gombak Setia - are currently held by former PKR leaders who defected to Bersatu, namely Azmin Ali and Hilman Idham.
Meanwhile, the PN open house the week after is being held at the Dewan Raja Muda Musa in Shah Alam, a stone’s throw away from the Pakatan Harapan-led state government’s administrative centre.
Both open houses will run from 8pm to 11pm.
PN has made it its mission to capture Selangor - the country’s wealthiest and most populous state - from Harapan and its new ally BN in the upcoming state polls.
The duelling open houses were a response to Anwar’s decision to hold Aidlfitri events in the six states where elections are due.
The prime minister has held functions in Kedah, Penang, and Negeri Sembilan, and will cap it off with three open houses back to back this week starting with Kelantan on Friday, Terengganu on Saturday, and Selangor on Sunday. - Mkini
