Pn S Labuan Rep Backs Anwar Cites Rising Cost Of Living

Bersatu's Labuan MP Suhaili Abdul Rahman has voiced support for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim’s premiership, citing the rising cost of living in his constituency.
He is the second Perikatan Nasional lawmaker to do so, after Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul Khalid did the same earlier this month.
Suhaili (above) said he took the decision after thorough consideration and hearing the grievances of his constituents who are being burdened by the increasing cost of living, as well as electricity and water supply disruptions in the last 15 years.
"Steps that have been taken to address these problems are on a 'piecemeal basis' only.
"Considering all the problems faced by the Labuan folk as stated above, I, as the Labuan MP, voice my support for the prime minister's leadership from the date of this statement," Suhaili, who’s also a Bersatu supreme council member, said in a statement today.
Possible disciplinary action
Suhaili also voiced support for the leadership of Sabah Chief Minister Hajiji Noor, whom he said helped a lot of Labuan folk by providing jobs and business opportunities in state government-linked companies (GLCs) since the latter started helming the state.
"To prevent any doubts, I would like to stress that despite voicing support for the prime minister and Sabah chief minister, I will remain a loyal Bersatu member.
"I'm willing to face possible disciplinary action from the party in return for looking after the welfare of my constituents who have been left out of development due to the current clashes in political narratives.
"From now on, I will support government policies and initiatives in matters concerning development, economy, and the welfare of the rakyat, until the 16th general election (GE16)," Suhaili said.
Kuala Kangsar MP Iskandar Dzulkarnain Abdul KhalidPN secretary-general Hamzah Zainudin previously alleged that Iskandar was threatened with corruption charges, in return for voicing support for Anwar. He did not provide any proof to back his claim.
MACC chief commissioner Azam Baki said the agency is not involved in the matter, while Inspector-General of Police Razarudin Husain said no police report has been lodged.
Bersatu’s leadership has issued a show-cause letter to Iskandar, who recently announced that he supports Anwar's premiership.
With the backing of the two PN MPs, Anwar should now have the support of 149 MPs, just over two-thirds, and be able to amend the Federal Constitution. - Mkini
