Pn Mp Cites Agus Wahab To Call For Revival Of Career Fairs
PARLIAMENT | An opposition lawmaker today cited ‘Agus’ and ‘Wahab’ to urge the government to revive career fairs for the benefit of job seekers.
In making his case, Kalam Salan (PN-Sabak Bernam) said not all jobseekers are technology-savvy enough to apply for jobs online.
“Let’s say Agus is good with computers and the internet, but Wahab is not computer-savvy.
“Agus is good at surfing the internet, while Wahab does not even know how to operate a computer.
“In such case, of course, Agus has more potential to secure a job advertised online, compared to Wahab who is not good with computers, and does not have an e-mail, a password, or an ID,” Kalam said.
He was speaking in the Dewan Rakyat while debating the Budget 2024 Bill at the committee stage in regard to the Human Resources Ministry today.
The anecdote seemed to be a veiled swipe at former Community Communications Department (J-Kom) director-general Mohammad Agus Yusoff, who was purportedly in a recent viral video of him allegedly in a flirtatious video call with J-Kom official Abdul Wahab Abdul Kadir Jailani.
Agus has since claimed the video was doctored, and the police are probing the matter.
Kalam’s speech invited chuckles from several PN MPs in the Dewan Rakyat.
Elaborating, he said career fairs are crucial to help those who are not good with computers secure jobs.

This is because he has to interact face-to-face with officers from departments and agencies he is applying for jobs in.” - Mkini
