Pkr Wants Cops To Investigate Ngo Behind Anti Anwar Rally
Putrajaya PKR chief Fikri Aziz lodged a police report against the planned rally and its organisers today.PETALING JAYA: Putrajaya PKR has urged the police to investigate an NGO which is set to organise a rally against Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim outside his official residence on June 29.
Its chief, Fikri Aziz, said the rally indirectly threatens national security as it is an attempt to incite the public to overthrow the government and sabotage the country’s economic recovery plans.
In a Bulletin TV3 report, Fikri also said he wants the police to issue an order to prevent the demonstration from taking place and to investigate the NGO’s leaders.
“The NGO seems to want to overthrow the government by inciting the people to think that the government can be brought down by opposing Anwar,” he said at the Putrajaya police headquarters after lodging the report today.
“This rally could give foreign investors a negative perception about investing in Malaysia, and the country’s political stability
“The organisers also questioned the targeted diesel subsidies by arguing that subsidies are the government’s responsibility.”
He said several state-level PKR leaders will also lodge police reports on the same issue.
Earlier, an online portal shared a poster and an article stating that an NGO led by an influencer will organise a demonstration themed “People’s Demo Against Anwar (Round 1)”.
It said the demonstration is set to take place at the parking lot outside the Seri Perdana Complex, which is the prime minister’s official residence, from 4.30pm to 7.30pm on June 29.
Fikri said he was considering lodging complaints with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to remove the poster and its related articles. - FMT
