Pkr To Sue More Leaders Azmin Says Zuraida Can Win Appeal
Selangor Perikatan Nasional chairperson Azmin Ali has reminded PKR to not be too eager in pursuing more legal suits after a High Court yesterday ordered former Ampang MP Zuraida Kamarudin to pay RM10 million to PKR for breaching the bond binding her to the party.
Speaking at a press conference after the Selangor PN Convention, Azmin pointed out that Zuraida still has avenues to appeal against the High Court order.
"That is not a final decision, Zuraida still has her right to appeal. We should not go beyond the courts [...]
"I believe with the facts that will be presented (during appeal), Zuraida can be freed from the order (to pay RM10 million)," said the former PKR deputy president.
"I think the (appeal) process is something that must be respected by all parties."
He said this when asked to comment on PKR leaders’ plans to pursue more legal suits against some of its former members who betrayed the party.
PKR secretary-general Saifuddin Nasution Ismail yesterday said the party would proceed with legal actions against other former leaders and members who had triggered or supported the Sheraton Move in 2020 and led to the fall of the then Pakatan Harapan government.
Azmin, together with Zuraida and nine other PKR MPs left the party in February 2020 to support Bersatu, Umno-BN and GPS in forming Perikatan Nasional.
The High Court in Kuala Lumpur yesterday allowed PKR’s RM10 million bond lawsuit against Zuraida who lost the Ampang parliamentary seat to her former party colleague Rodziah Ismail during the general election last year.
PKR filed the suit against Zuraida for breaking her bond with the party and defecting after clinching the Ampang seat for the third time in the 14th general election. - Mkini
