Pkr Slams Door On Azmin S Purported Return
(NST) – It looks like the door is firmly shut on former PKR Deputy President, Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali’s purported return to the Pakatan Harapan fold.
PKR Communications Director Fahmi Fadzil said the decision on the matter was reached at the PKR Central Leadership Council (MPP) meeting last night.
“The MPP has also decided that PKR will not discuss or work with Azmin, who is considered by members, party supporters and the public as one of the principal causes of the ‘Sheraton Move’ betrayal,” he said in a statement today.
PKR on Feb 24, 2020 sacked Azmin and former PKR vice -president Datuk Zuraida Kamaruddin, after the duo criticised the PKR leadership. Nine other PKR federal lawmakers also followed the duo in leaving the party and joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia (Bersatu).
Dubbed as the Sheraton Move, this as well as Bersatu’s move to quit PH saw the first non-Barisan Nasional federal government fall after 22 months in power.
Touching on the PKR election, Fahmi said the Party Election Committee (JPP) will officially proclaim the new PKR branches and main leadership as soon as complaints and the party election audit process is completed.
“The new leadership needs to move fast, smooth and as a strong team to face PKR’s political enemies in the 15th General Election (GE),” he said.
In the meantime, he said, the MPP also decided that the party’s National Congress will continue on July 16 and 17, at the IDEAL Convention Centre (IDCC) Shah Alam.
“The Women and AMK Congress will continue on July 15, at IDCC Shah Alam.
“The Congress this time will focus on the readiness of the party machinery to face the 15th GE and the dissolution of Parliament, which can happen at any time after July 31,” he said.
