Pkr Confirms Its Mps Reject Muhyiddin In Letters To The Palace
PKR has confirmed that the party’s 35 MPs opposed Muhyiddin Yassin's premiership in letters to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong.
The matter was verified by the party’s communications director Fahmi Fadzil when contacted today.
“It’s true. PKR has sent letters to the Yang di-Pertuan Agong stating that all MPs from PKR do not support and reject Mahiaddin Md Yassin’s leadership,” he said, referring to Muhyiddin by his legal name.
“He should not delay and tender his resignation now since he has lost the confidence of the majority of MPs, in accordance with Article 43(4) of the Federal Constitution.”
Fahmi, who is the Lembah Pantai MP, said this when asked to comment on Malaysiakini’s report yesterday where sources from Amanah and Parti Pejuang Tanahair claimed all 105 opposition and independent MPs have sent letters to the king to oppose Muhyiddin’s leadership.
The move followed Umno’s revelation that 13 of its MPs have sent letters withdrawing their support for Muhyiddin.
The matter was communicated to the king through letters dated July 30 and Aug 3.
With that, Muhyiddin only has support from 100 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat, which is 11 fewer than needed to command a simple majority in the house.
Nevertheless, the Pagoh MP previously claimed he still has majority support following an audience with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong on Aug 4.
He promised to table a motion of confidence once the Parliament reconvenes next month. - Mkini
