(Bernama pic)PETALING JAYA: Petronas is working to increase its supply of diesel to petrol stations in the next 24 to 48 hours to overcome the current shortage, says domestic trade and cost of living minister Armizan Mohd Ali.
Petronas Dagangan Bhd (PetDag) yesterday said that several of its stations nationwide were currently facing a shortage of diesel which is expected to last until Dec 31.
Speaking to FMT, Armizan said diesel users need not worry as the shortage will not last until the end of the month.
“I have personally spoken to Petronas’s management and the issue has been resolved,” he said.
“Petronas is mobilising additional supply (of diesel) within 24 to 48 hours.”
Previously, the media reported that most petrol stations in Sabah and Sarawak were facing a shortage of diesel.
In its statement yesterday, PetDag assured its customers that it was working with the relevant authorities and stakeholders to minimise any disruptions.
Armizan told FMT that his ministry had requested Petronas and its counterparts to submit a full report and detailed documents regarding the causes of the diesel shortage.
Separately, deputy domestic trade and cost of living minister Fuziah Salleh said Petronas had been told to submit a list of petrol stations where additional diesel supply will be delivered to.
“This will allow (us to conduct) comprehensive monitoring,” she said. - FMT
