Peter Anthony Warded For Vertigo Court Postpones Charge To July

Today's planned charging of Sabah Infrastructure Development Minister Peter Anthony at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court has been postponed to July 10
This was due to the Warisan Melalap assemblyperson being warded for vertigo at the KPJ Kota Kinabalu hospital in Sabah yesterday
Before Sessions Court judge Rozina Ayob this morning, Peter's (above) counsel Mohamed Haniff Khatri Abdulla said his client was initially supposed to take a 4.15pm flight from Sabah to Kuala Lumpur yesterday
However, Peter was then warded at the private hospital in Kota Kinabalu due to vertigo, he said. Haniff said he was informed that Peter had been suffering from vertigo for some time and that the accused’s planned bailor is present
The veteran counsel then gave an undertaking to the court that the defence will provide Peter's medical certificate (MC), among others
DPP Wan Shaharuddin Wan Ladin applied for the matter to be mentioned on another date, when Peter can be present at court to be charged
Rozina fixed July 10 for Peter to be charged at the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court
Haniff  (right in photo) confirmed the outcome of the proceedings after it was over, adding that his client was supposed to be read one charge today
The details of the charge would only be known when it is read on July 10, he added. Yesterday, it was reported that Peter would face fresh criminal charges, this time in Kuala Lumpur
The MACC had said that it had received permission from the Attorney-General's Chambers to prosecute Peter but did not disclose details of the alleged offence
Earlier this month, Peter was also charged on two separate occasions at the Kota Kinabalu Sessions Court
On June 11, Peter was slapped with five charges of money laundering totalling RM8.75 million
On June 18, he was slapped with a charge of abetting criminal breach of trust amounting to RM15,545,400 involving a land deal between 2014 and 2015. - Mkini
