Perak Mb Accused Of Sidelining State Mca Mic Youth Wings
The Perak Youth chapters of MCA and MIC have jointly accused the state’s Menteri Besar Ahmad Faizal Azumu of sidelining the two BN component parties in his state administration.
In a joint statement, Perak MCA Youth chief Daniel Wa Wai How and MIC Youth chief S Jayaganes expressed regret over Ahmad Faizal's alleged non-recognition of the parties' contributions as representatives of Chinese and Indian communities.
“There have been no policy or special programmes carried out for the welfare and development of Chinese and Indian communities by Ahmad Faizal since leading the state for 30 months, including 22 months under the previous Pakatan Harapan state administration," they said.
They further rubbished Ahmad Faizal's reported statement that he was capable of representing the Chinese and Indian communities, on top of allegedly ignoring requests for appointment of a special officer or adviser from the two communities.
"The MB's statement that he can represent the Chinese and Indian is illogical and unacceptable.
"MIC and MCA as BN component parties that formed the basis of the state government today have over seven decades of history in fighting for Indian and Chinese issues as a consensus," they said.
"However, the Perak MB sidelined the MIC and MCA and is leaning more towards several NGOs that popped up 'like mushrooms', claiming to represent the Chinese and Indian communities.
"What are Ahmad Faizal's real motive and direction?" they questioned.
Their attack against Ahmad Faizal today came several days after Perak Umno chief Saarani Mohammad accused the Perak MB of disrespecting the agreement reached between Bersatu, Umno and PAS in forming the PN state government.
The strained ties followed Ahmad Faizal's move to appoint Umno's Pengkalan Hulu assemblyperson Aznel Ibrahim as his political secretary, a move which Saarani said should have been first discussed with Umno.
Speaking to reporters in Ipoh today, Ahmad Faizal denied that Aznel’s appointment was a bid to consolidate his position in the state assembly.
According to The Malay Mail, Ahmad Faizal said he had already had majority support from Umno and PAS assemblypersons and need not resort to such an appointment.
"I truly believe all the assemblymen will stand firm with the Perikatan Nasional government," the Perak Bersatu chief was quoted as saying.
The Bersatu deputy chief also insisted he has good ties with Saarani, adding that there were no problems among the three Malay parties in the state.
“I will not comment on this matter as I have a very good relationship with Saarani and the relationship between Bersatu, Umno and PAS in the state is also good.
“If I comment anything on this matter somehow people will give different views, so I don’t want to talk about it,” he reportedly said. - Mkini
