Perak Bersatu Rep Hasnul Waits For Party To Decide His Fate

Bersatu's Titi Serong assemblyperson Hasnul Zulkarnain Abd Munaim said he is waiting for the state party leadership to decide his fate following a report that the party is considering sacking him.
This followed allegations that Hasnul (above) did not vote to support Ahmad Faizal Azumu as menteri besar during last Friday's confidence vote in the state assembly hall.
His name was also linked to a statutory declaration (SD) backing Perak Umno chief Saarani Mohamad as the next menteri besar.
The Malaysian Insight reported that a source said concerns about Hasnul were raised at a Bersatu political bureau meeting last Friday.
“We identified Hasnul as the assemblyman who did not pledge support for the MB during the motion of confidence. Some in the party felt Hasnul should be sacked as he had crossed the line,” said the source.
Another source also revealed that the party was considering sacking Hasnul in regards to the SD signing.
When contacted, Hasnul said he is aware that he has become a topic of discussion within the party.
"It's okay, I don't want to give a comment. Let's just wait for the announcement from the party," he said.
Back in July, Hasnul defected from Amanah to join Bersatu. He was the former Amanah youth chief.
During the confidence vote last week, 24 out of 25 Umno assemblypersons joined another 24 opposition Pakatan Harapan assemblypersons to vote against Faizal (below), causing him to lose his majority support in the state assembly.
Only 10 state representatives backed the Chenderiang assemblyperson.




Recently, Sinar Harian reported that all 25 Perak Umno assemblypersons and one from Bersatu had declared their support of Saarani through the SD.
A simple majority to form the state government requires 30 seats.
The Umno supreme council yesterday decided that the Perikatan Nasional government in Perak involving Umno, Pas, and Bersatu needs to be preserved.
This followed earlier reports that Umno was considering joining forces with DAP, PKR, and Amanah to form a new state government.
