Penang Pas Bersatu Settle Talks On 15 Malay Majority Seats

(Bernama pic)KEPALA BATAS: The Penang chapters of PAS and Bersatu have reached an understanding regarding the allocation of 15 Malay-majority seats for the coming state assembly elections.
Penang PAS commissioner Fauzi Yusoff said the allocation of the remaining 25 seats in the state was still being discussed with coalition allies Gerakan and Bersatu. A decision will be made before the Penang state assembly is dissolved.
“The 15 seats are for PAS and Bersatu, how many we (PAS) will contest in total will be announced later. What we have discussed and decided is also known by the senior leadership, there are no issues over the allocation of Malay-majority seats in the state,” he told reporters here.
He said PAS was ready to make way for candidates from the Non-Muslim PAS Supporters Congress for the remaining 25 seats, and believed that Gerakan and Bersatu had their own suggestions for those seats.
“We will discuss with Gerakan and Bersatu about the mixed seats and our strategies to wrest those seats in the upcoming state elections,” he added.
He also said the party had a list of candidates for the state elections which included both youths and seniors, along with new faces and members of the Muslim community.
All PAS candidates were submitted by their own constituencies to the state leadership, but the final decision will be made by the party’s Syura Council. - FMT
