Penang Lazada Facility Closed For Sop Enhancements Not Due To Covid 19
Online sales platform Lazada Malaysia has clarified that there has been no Covid-19 cases in its Lazada Express logistics facility in George Town, Penang, after a picture of a closure notice for the facility was spread on social media.
“Over the weekend, we have noticed misunderstandings from the public regarding the closure of Lazada Express’ George Town logistics facility.
“We would like to hereby provide clarification and context that there has been no Covid-19 cases at the George Town logistics facility.
“The said facility has been closed from July 9 in order to enhance its standard operating procedures (SOPs) according to the guidance from health officials on additional safety measures,” said Lazada Malaysia in a statement today.
Lazada also stressed that the facility’s closure will not impact package deliveries in the area.
The company said they remain steadfast in its commitment to ensure their protocols are robust and comprehensive.
The enhancements to the SOPs are on top of Lazada’s existing precautionary measures, such as daily health check-ins and temperature checks, maintaining social distance at all times, mandatory use of protective gear, reducing their workforce and conducting routine disinfections.
Lazada said its Express team has also been in close consultation with the authorities to continually strengthen safety measures.
The notice from the Health Ministry stated that the Lazada Express facility in George Town will be closed from July 9 to July 15 to “carry out measures to prevent the start or spread of an infectious disease”. - Mkini
