Penang Cm Candidate Yet To Be Decided Loke

DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke said no decision has been made on its Penang chief minister candidate yet.
This comes after Gerakan told DAP to come clean on its candidate, citing a news report claiming the party might nominate its national deputy chairperson Gobind Singh Deo for the post.
“No decision has been made right now. I just met Penang DAP chief Chow (Kon Yeow). We discussed various preparations and strategies to face the state elections.
“Further announcements will be made in the next one to two weeks.
“But of course, in every election, we employ different strategies to maximise our chances of winning and also to ensure a strong leadership especially in Penang because we are the state government and in the driver’s seat,” he said.
He was speaking to reporters after the ‘Political Stability in Hung Parliament’ forum at Sunway University in Selangor today.
Caretaker Penang chief minister Chow Kon YeowLoke added that the candidate list for Penang DAP has not been finalised yet.
Earlier today, Gerakan deputy president Oh Tong Keong said it was imperative for DAP to reveal its chief ministerial candidate as it would affect the future development of Penang.
As DAP is the incumbent state government, he said the people have a right to know that, if the party wins again, if Gobind would be the chief minister or would Chow be reappointed.
Last Saturday, Loke told Tasek Gelugor MP Wan Saiful Wan Jan to mind his own business after the latter claimed DAP was planning to replace incumbent Chow with Bukit Mertajam MP Steven Sim.
Rumours also circulated last month that DAP was lobbying for party chairperson Lim Guan Eng to make a comeback as chief minister.
DAP chairperson Lim Guan EngChow, who served as chief minister since 2018 after the 14th general election, previously indicated he is willing to continue in the post.
Article 7 Clause 2(a)(ii) of the Penang state constitution provides that the chief minister shall be appointed from among individuals who have never at any time held that position for two terms.
