Pejuang Receives Ros Warning To Stop Member Activities Use Of Party Logo
Parti Pejuang Tanah Air (Pejuang) today said it has received a stern warning from the Registrar of Societies to cease all membership activities and use of the party’s logo.
Pejuang pro-tem secretary-general Amiruddin Hamzah said the warning contained in a letter dated May 10 was issued despite the party’s repeated attempts to seek approval for its registration status.
“Given there has been no answer on our application for approval, nor any legal justification on our appeal, it is difficult for the pro-tem committee to control the public who are interested to join Pejuang from organising any activities,” he said in a statement today.
Amiruddin also questioned the motive behind the letter as Pejuang’s appeal for registration has been submitted to Home Minister Hamzah Zainuddin, who is in charge of ROS, without any response.
“The other question that must be answered by ROS and the Home Ministry, what other excuse do they want to use to avoid approving Pejuang’s application?
“All conditions as informed to Pejuang by ROS and the ministry have been fulfilled,” said Amiruddin.
He added that Pejuang will also leave the matter of its registration for the court to decide on May 31.
Pejuang had previously filed a judicial review to compel Hamzah and the Registrar of Societies (ROS) to make a decision on the party’s registration appeal.
Hamzah in his court affidavit had explained his reasons for taking such a long time to decide on Pejuang’s registration appeal.
Among others, Hamzah said in the affidavit that he received Pejuang’s appeal on Jan 8, 2021 but then he was hospitalised for Covid-19 from Jan 12 to 24, 2021, after which he continued home quarantine up to Feb 1.
