Pbm Likely To Make Political Debut At Johor State Polls
“We are still in the midst of discussions with our leaders as well as with others outside PBM,” its deputy president, Haniza Mohamed Talha said in a statement.- NSTP/FAIZ ANUARKLANG: Newly-launched political party, Parti Bangsa Malaysia (PBM) will likely be making its debut at the upcoming Johor state election.
"Looking at the latest political developments, statistics and feedback from the ground, we will likely be fielding our candidates for the Johor state polls.
"We are still in the midst of discussions with our leaders as well as with others outside PBM," its deputy president, Haniza Mohamed Talha said in a statement.
She stressed that PBM will only field candidates in areas where the leaders have served the rakyat there and are known to the electorate.
"Then, these candidates will stand a good chance of winning," she said.
Haniza said PBM was a strong multi-racial party and emphasised this as a unifying factor for all Malaysians.
"All Malaysians, regardless of race, colour or creed are seen as one Bangsa Malaysia.
"PBM is also pushing for more women and youth representation in elections. These untapped talents will certainly contribute towards better economic and nation building," she said.
Haniza said she was once from a multi-racial party, but as time passed, it diverted from its original cause and from its struggles to bring reforms.
"I decided to join PBM because it is the party of today and the future.
"PBM was my choice also because of its focus on women and youth empowerment, economy, education, advancement in science n technology," she said.
Haniza said there is no other party that has all these important agendas packaged in one.
On her immediate plans as the deputy president, she said she wanted to help strengthen PBM and make it the choice of Malaysians in the next election.
Some of the plans lined up, she said included roadshows to all 14 PBM states, meeting leaders and new members, promoting PBM to all, through programmes and engagement with the rakyat.
"We are also organising more membership drives," she said.
On preparations for the 15th general election, Haniza said they were in the process of identifying potential candidates, seats, and setting up their electoral machinery. - NST
