The officials and players of Kuantan FA have urged the team’s management to take immediate action and help resolve their 13-month salary arrears, which has been going on for almost three years
Rizal Budiman, a spokesman for the former officials and players, claimed that nothing had been done to resolve the long-standing issue although they had raised the matter with the team’s management numerous times
“The problem began in 2016. Then, we were owed two months’ salary but we, the players and officials, did not take any action as the management promised to look into the matter
“But until this year the arrears have exceeded 12 months and the management is still silent on the matter,” said the former official of the Seagulls Club at a specially arranged press conference, which was attended by the 17 former team officials and players, in Kuantan last night
Kuantan FA’s former assistant goalkeeper coach Mohd Rosfaizul Mohd Azuar Ali said they had informed the Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) of their plight earlier this year
"At that time, only six players lodged a report as the rest believed the management’s promise that it would settle the arrears,” he said
He claimed that following FAM’s intervention, only the six players’ salary arrears were paid in full
The other 15 players, he said, were only paid two months’ arrears while the remainder has yet to be settled.He said that 26 players and officials have lodged a police report regarding the matter at the Sri Jaya police station in Maran last night
Problems regarding the salary arrears also resulted in Kuantan FA being banned from competing in the M-League this year after the team failed to turn up for their Premier League match against PDRM at the Shah Alam Stadium on April 15
