Pas Won T Buy Mps To Capture Putrajaya Says Hadi
PAS and Perikatan Nasional will not try to “buy” Members of Parliament or resort to street protests to capture Putrajaya, says Tan Sri Abdul Hadi Awang.
(MSN News) – The PAS president said the recent so-called “Dubai Move”, an alleged plot to overthrow the unity government, was cooked up by others with the intention of blaming it on the Opposition.
“I agree with veteran journalist Datuk Abdul Kadir Jasin that money politics and this ‘Dubai Move’ must have come from those who have money (and targeted) those who want money.
“The government now is controlling the money and able to influence those who are looking for projects that yield easy money.
“It is like the Arabic saying, ‘He hit me but he’s the one crying, he was cruel to me but he’s the one complaining’,” Abdul Hadi said in a statement on Friday (Jan 5).
He said PAS and Perikatan will only use democratic channels to return to Putrajaya.
“There is no need to go ‘shopping’ for MPs … instead (we will be) realistic (and practise) real democratic politics.
“PAS … strives (for) a change of government through the democratic process.
“We (have withdrawn) from street protests (which) only cause trouble to the rakyat,” he added.
On Thursday (Jan 4), Kadir Jasin wrote on Facebook that any attempt to overthrow or change the government can only be done by those who hold the purse strings.
The Dubai Move first came about after Community Communications Department (J-Kom) deputy director-general Datuk Ismail Yusop claimed on Dec 30 that there was a plot organised by Perikatan leaders and government backbenchers who were vacationing in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
According to Ismail, a meeting took place during the visit to assign specific tasks to “agents” responsible for identifying MPs who may want to switch their support to the opposition.
On Tuesday (Jan 2), Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi said he was aware of the attempt even before the individuals involved landed in the Middle East country.
