Pas Wants Dr M As De Facto Pn Leader Claims Salleh
PAS is moving to make Dr Mahathir Mohamad Perikatan Nasional’s de facto leader by appointing the former prime minister as an adviser to its four state governments, claimed Salleh Said Keruak.
Salleh, who is from Sabah Umno, suggested that the plan was cooked up by PAS and this was allegedly done behind PN chairperson Muhyiddin Yassin’s back.
“I see the recent move on the appointment of Mahathir as the adviser of ‘state government four’ as actually a move to make Mahathir the de facto leader of PN.
“Obviously, the four states namely Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu are all PAS-controlled states.
“This explains why Muhyiddin was not invited when PAS leaders met Mahathir earlier this month,” he said in a statement posted on Facebook.
Salleh Said KeruakThe Usukan state assemblyperson was referring to an announcement by Terengganu Menteri Besar Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar yesterday that four states under PN are working to form an official cooperation group, with Mahathir as its unofficial adviser.
Samsuri, who is PAS vice-president, reportedly said that Perlis, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu will discuss an action plan for the grouping named “state government four”, or in short, SG4.
Salleh also said he believed that Muhyiddin could only play along with the decision.
“I must say that it’s a brilliant move by Mahathir if his real intention is to be in the political forefront again despite the setback in Langkawi during the 15th general election.
“I believe Muhyiddin has limited options but to play along with whatever decision is made by the PAS-led PN on the appointment of Mahathir,” he said.
