Pas Umno Don T Have To Tie The Knot Says Annuar

Umno secretary-general Annuar Musa said there is no need for his party to "tie the knot" with PAS
Annuar said ever since he held the party's post, he was frequently asked when the two parties would be united as one
"People asked me, are PAS and Umno going to 'tie the knot'? I replied: why do you care
"Umno is 72 years old, while PAS is nearly 70. The elderly don't care about marriage anymore, but we can consider being in-laws," he said to cheers from the audience at the grand finale talk to protest against Icerd in Kota Bharu last night
Also present were PAS secretary-general Mohd Takiyuddin Hassan, Umno Kelantan chairperson Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, and PAS ulama syura council secretary Nik Zawawi Salleh
Annuar, who is also Ketereh MP, said the two parties do not have to be in an official relationship but they can work together in their own ways
"Please understand when it comes to politic, PAS and Umno don't have to tie the knot. PAS has its own way, and Umno has its own way. But we can consider working as 'in-laws'
"There are 14 children. Take one as daughter-in-law. If PAS wants to take two or three, it's up to them. They want Kelantan, take it. They can take Terengganu, too
"We are willing to see PAS helm (the states) rather than DAP or parties which are in cahoots with DAP. We are divided (among us), but there's no need to worry about the (next) general election, it is still far off," he said
Annuar added that what is important now is that PAS and Umno have their own strong foundations
"That's why I am not worried when PAS and Umno are in a tiff. Because we have a solid foundation and eventually we will meet at a station. Tonight is the first station," he said. - Mkini
