Pas Steamed Up Over Party On Ktmb Chartered Train
PAS is getting steamed up over a dance party that took place aboard a Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) train.
The party, organised as part of the Pinkfish music festival, is understood to have used a train chartered from KTMB.
According to Hitz FM, the party - billed as the first festival train in Southeast Asia - took place on Thursday (May 16) with the train traversing around Kuala Lumpur.
Photos and videos uploaded on Pinkfish’s social media showed partygoers dancing in the trains while DJs performed.
Malaysiakini has contacted KTMB for comment.
Malaysiakini was made to understand that alcohol was not allowed on the trains as per KTMB’s guidelines for chartered trains.
‘Moderation is key’
In a statement today, PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli Shaari said the party went against Eastern cultural norms and did not reflect the Rukun Negara or the Malaysia Madani spirit.
“No matter what reason is given to justify this programme, such as to generate revenue, it is unacceptable and goes against the Malaysia Madani philosophy of Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim,” he said.
PAS information chief Ahmad Fadhli ShaariHe added that since KTMB was a government-linked company, the ministry should investigate how an event that promoted sin could have been approved.
While entertainment was not forbidden to Malaysians and Muslims, Fadhli said it should be done in moderation.
“KTMB’s image as well as the cultural practice of moderation in entertainment without influence from any Western country must be defended in Malaysia which has a diverse society.
“Moderation in entertainment is the key to progress,” he added. - Mkini
