Only 187 Still Being Treated For Covid 19
PUTRAJAYA: Only 187 people are now being treated in hospitals for Covid-19, health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said today
He said two of the patients are currently being treated in the intensive care unit (ICU) but none of them require respiratory assistance
In a statement today, Noor Hisham said 14 more recoveries were recorded yesterday
With the latest recoveries, the total number of patients who have recovered and who have been discharged stood at 8,308 (96.4%)Noor Hisham said 10 new cases had been recorded, involving four imported cases and six local transmissions. The new cases involved five foreigners and five locals
They brought the total number of infections recorded to date to 8,616
There were no new deaths, meaning the death toll remained at 121
Of the imported cases, three involved foreign nationals and one Malaysian
The local transmissions included a Malaysian screened before an operation
Three infections were detected among tahfiz school students in Kuala Lumpur, who underwent screening
The two local transmissions involving foreign nationals included a detainee at a lock-up in Negeri Sembilan and a worker in Sabah, screened at a contractor’s premises
Noor Hisham also provided an update on the screening at entry points into the country
“As of June 25, a total of 61,576 people returned from overseas. Of this, 610 tested positive for Covid-19.”Those returning to the country, he said, need to undergo quarantine at home and they will be monitored
Noor Hisham urged all individuals returning to Malaysia to continue cooperating with the ministry in breaking the chain of Covid-19 infections by abiding with the set guidelines. - FMT
