One Dead 11 Injured In Multiple Vehicle Pile Up

Mersing OCPD Supt Cyril Edward Nuing said the incident occurred at about 12.50pm on Saturday when the victim, Syarifah Norhamimie Syed Mohd, was heading to Johor Baru with her husband and son from Terengganu
“The victim was inside a Perodua Bezza driven by her husband, Khairul Sham Arifin, 53, together with their 11-year-old son Arham Danial Khairul Sham
“The car crashed with a grey Toyota Vios headed from Mersing before another yellow Toyota Vios from the same direction came and rammed into the Perodua Bezza, ” he said.
He added that the yellow Vios tried to evade the first collision but failed.
"Due to the impact, the car engine from the Bezza was flung towards an express bus that was heading from Endau to Mersing, ” he said.Supt Cyril said the victim was pronounced dead at the location while her husband and son suffered serious injuries and had been brought to Mersing Hospital
He added that the other victims, between the ages of 11 and 62, were also brought to the same hospital for treatment
Supt Cyril said the case was being investigated under Section 41 of the Road Transport Act 1987
Meanwhile, Mersing Fire and Rescue Department operation commander Amir Hamzah Aris said 13 personnel members in two fire engines were deployed to the scene
“The accident occurred near Jalan Hutan Lipur Gunung Arong and the department deployed vehicles and personnel from Mersing and Endau to help the victims, ” he said.- Star
