There appears to be confusion surrounding the whereabouts of MACC’s investigation papers concerning Court of Appeal judge Mohd Nazlan Mohd Ghazali.
Attorney-General Idrus Harun (above) has declined to confirm if the purported probe papers leaked by blogger Raja Petra Kamaruddin last week were authentic.
Malaysiakini has obtained an audio recording of the AG’s response to journalists on this matter at the sidelines of an event in Putrajaya today.
Asked if he could verify the authenticity of the investigation papers, Idrus replied: “It’s not with us.”
To another question on whether the papers were not authentic, he responded: “What do you mean not authentic?”
When pointed out that Umno is asking if the leaked documents were the authentic investigation papers, the AG said: “I don't know. It's not with us.”
In May, MACC said it had submitted the investigation papers on Nazlan to the AGC after collecting the relevant evidence in accordance with established guidelines and procedures.
The commission said it was now up to the AGC to decide on the next course of action.

"We are perusing the investigation paper before we make our decision (on any further action)," he added in a text message.
Malaysiakini has contacted Idrus this evening for clarification on the matter.
Meanwhile, former premier Najib Abdul Razak took to Facebook to highlight the different statements and posted several news reports on the matter.
“Apa sudah terjadi? (What has happened?),” he asked.
MACC urged to confirm
Following Raja Petra leaking the documents, Umno secretary-general Ahmad Maslan urged MACC to confirm if the papers were genuine.
He also questioned Idrus if the AGC would take further action based on the probe.
Former premier Najib Abdul RazakAhmad also noted the Federal Court’s unanimous decision last week to dismiss former premier Najib’s application to introduce new evidence on Nazlan’s purported conflict of interest.
The apex court is hearing Najib’s final appeal against his conviction and sentence in the SRC International Bhd case.
In 2020, Nazlan was the High Court judge who sentenced Najib to 12 years in prison and a RM210 million fine for corruption, abuse of power and money laundering in the SRC matter.
He had since been promoted to the Court of Appeal in February this year.
Raja Petra had accused the judge of allegedly having "unexplained wealth", which led to the MACC opening an investigation against Nazlan.
The judge also lodged a report against the UK-based blogger. - Mkini
