Muhyiddin Yassin (left) says Anwar Ibrahim still has time to correct some of his mistakes after barely 100 days in office.PETALING JAYA: Perikatan Nasional chairman Muhyiddin Yassin says it is not too late for Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to rectify several missteps after barely 100 days in office.
This includes the appointment of Anwar’s daughter, Nurul Izzah, as his senior economics and finance adviser, the former prime minister said.
Muhyiddin, who is also the Bersatu president, said Anwar should advise Nurul Izzah to resign from the post, adding that a “talented and capable young leader” like her had a huge potential in politics.
“Don’t let this appointment blemish her political career,” he said in a statement today.

Muhyiddin also said Anwar should relinquish his position as the finance minister and focus on his job as the prime minister instead, citing former prime minister Najib Razak’s time in power when the 1MDB scandal broke out.
He said Anwar should not be repeating the same mistake.
He also called for Barisan Nasional chairman and Umno president Ahmad Zahid Hamidi to be relieved as deputy prime minister, citing concerns that his corruption trial would tarnish the nation’s image.
“It is embarrassing for the people of Malaysia if he meets leaders of other nations on official duty while his case is still being tried in court. How would the headlines read in these foreign countries?”
Muhyiddin’s statement comes hours after opposition leader Hamzah Zainudin urged Anwar to rescind Nurul Izzah’s appointment as his senior economics and finance adviser.
Hamzah said her appointment had tarnished the government’s reputation as it went against good governance, a principle espoused by the prime minister.
Bersatu deputy president Ahmad Faizal Azumu had previously called for Anwar to relieve Zahid of his duties as deputy prime minister in view of his ongoing court case. - FMT
