Non Muslims Aghast With Cops Jakim Over Double Standards In Handling Mosque Temple Bomb Threats
POLITICAL activist Arun Dorasamy has demanded the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) to update its investigation status over a bomb threat report of an individual threatening to bomb Hindu temples at the height of the relocation exercise of the 130-year-old Dewi Sri Pathrakaliamman Temple in Kuala Lumpur.
This came about after the police are reportedly hunting down a social media account belonging to one “Lyan Liu” that threatened the bombing of mosques during Friday prayer hours.
“Can PDRM kindly provide the latest information on the status of its investigation (on the bomb threat against Hindu temples), including whether action has been taken under the relevant legal provisions,” penned Arun who is believed to be spearheading the Temple Preservation Action Team (TEPAT) on his Facebook (FB) page.
“Religion and places of worship are not places to be targeted for hatred or violence.”
Malay language news portal MalaysiaGazette had on April 18 reported that a police report was lodged by a 68-year-old trader in Melaka after having come across a FB posting which insulted both the Malays and Islam while threatening to bomb mosques during Friday prayers.
Central Melaka District Police Chief Assistant Commissioner Christopher Patit has confirmed receiving the report although the case is being looked into by the Johor investigating officers because the first report was made at the Tampoi Police Station.

This prompted a tit-for-tat action with Arun’s FB followers questioning the police inaction the report lodged against one “Lina Salina” who suggested “quietly placing a bomb in Hindu temples”.

In a related development, non-Muslims have also fumed at JAKIM (Department of Islamic Development Malaysia) over its recent lodging of a formal complaint with the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over the “Lyan Liu” FB post.
This is after JAKIM had in a media statement dated April 18 claimed that the social media post contained elements of hate speech, incitement and religious provocation.

“The statement posted by the individual contains extreme defamation against religion and race which is clearly in contradiction with the principles of harmony between races and religions that have long been preserved in the country,” it said.
Among others, non-Muslims uttered frustration that the relevant authorities are seemingly swift in acting against devious non-Muslins but not against Muslims – especially religious personalities such as convert preachers – who mock other religions.
