No Room For Division Nurul Izzah Urges Focus Beyond Race And Religion

PKR Vice President Nurul Izzah Anwar has called on all components of the Unity Government to fully leverage its current political stability to push forward national development and prioritise the welfare of the people.
“This government is already stable. We no longer want to quarrel about race or religion. There’s no time for that anymore,” she said, as quoted by Sinar Harian, stressing the importance of moving beyond divisive issues.
Nurul Izzah also underscored the importance of cooperation between PH and BN in maintaining focus on inclusive governance, especially ahead of Malaysia’s role as ASEAN Chair this year, during heightened global tensions.

“This is where we need to prove our strength and unity within this coalition so that we can safeguard Malaysia, including across the state of Perak,” she said.
Her remarks came during a campaign event attended by BN’s candidate for the Ayer Kuning by-election, Dr Mohamad Yusri Bakir.ed by the passing of UMNO assemblyman Ishsam Shahruddin on February 22.
Ishsam had won the seat in the previous general election with a majority of 2,213 votes in a five-cornered fight.
This time, the seat will see a three-way contest between BN’s Yusri Bakir (UMNO), Perikatan Nasional’s Abdul Muhaimin Malek (PAS), and Parti Sosialis Malaysia’s KS Bawani, who also contested in the 15th general election.
Nurul Izzah noted that the government’s current mission is to ensure that its policies reflect and respond to the people’s post-pandemic needs, particularly in addressing poverty and unemployment.
“In the past, one had to wait to earn a degree. Now, you can register to study right away. Keep learning so the future can be secured,” she added, highlighting the government’s focus on Technical and Vocational Education and Training as a key platform for upskilling Malaysians.- Focus Malaysia
