DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke has dismissed any notions that there are internal fights within the party, stating party members are united.
This comes after Loke (above, left) and party vice-chairperson Nga Kor Ming were photographed together affirming their alliance during a meal to celebrate Chinese New Year.
It was speculated that the photo was aimed at sending a message - two of the party’s key powerhouses remain firmly aligned amid the upcoming party polls on March 16.
“When ministers sit down to have a meal together, it doesn’t mean anything special.
“I frequently meet with many DAP leaders over meals. Next week, I will also be hosting a dinner to celebrate Lim Kit Siang’s 84th birthday,” he was reported as saying by China Press in a video today.

Party insiders earlier told Malaysiakini that with Loke and Nga joining forces, DAP national chairperson Lim Guan Eng risks losing his position on the central executive committee (CEC) if he refuses to relinquish the party chairpersonship.
DAP national chairperson Lim Guan EngIt is understood that if Lim was willing to renounce his post as national chairperson, the Loke-Nga camp may still include him in their “cai dan” (voting guide), allowing him to secure a place on the CEC.
However, should Lim insist on contesting the chairpersonship, he may face an uphill battle. A defeat in the first round of the CEC election would be a significant blow to the former secretary-general's standing.
As such, it was said that the former finance minister has been actively attending various events in a bid to garner support from party delegates.
‘Just greetings’
ADSPressed by reporters on what message he wanted to convey with the photo, Loke said he merely wanted to wish everyone a Happy New Year.
“Didn’t you see my hand gesture? Wishing everyone progress in the new year, good health, success in all endeavours, national peace and prosperity, and a strong DAP,” the transport minister said with a smile.
Under the party’s electoral system, delegates will first elect 30 members into the CEC, who will then determine key leadership positions.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms is a 14th-century novel by author Luo Guanzhong.
