COVID-19 | Police have denied that there will be road closures at five areas leading in and out of Petaling Jaya, Selangor.
Petaling Jaya police chief Nik Ezanee Mohd Faisal said a viral message claiming that all roads leading to the city through Damansara, Ara Damansara, Subang, Sungai Buloh, Kota Damansara, and New Pantai Expressway (NPE) will be closed except for those with police permits and company letters is false.
A statement issued this morning, however, said there were roadblocks at three areas - namely outside the toll exits at Subang, Sungai Buloh and Damansara.
These roadblocks had been set up at midnight on Oct 14 when the conditional movement control order (MCO) came into force.
Petaling Jaya is a red zone, with 340 active cases as of yesterday.


The government yesterday mandated that workers from red zones under conditional MCO need to get a swab test if they are not working from home.
Under the conditional MCO, employees who need to travel to work in a different district need only show an employee pass or company letter.
Meanwhile, Nik Ezanee said police would be carrying out operations to enforce the conditional MCO as Covid-19 cases in Petaling Jaya show no signs of abating.
He thanked motorists for their patience and cooperation when going through roadblocks, and reminded everyone to be mindful of the passenger limit.
There can only be two people in a car at a time or two passengers in a taxi or e-hailing vehicle. Those needing to ferry additional passengers need police permission. - Mkini
