Nga Kor Ming Hits Back At Cronyism Claims Over Mykiosk Project

THE Ministry of Housing and Local Government has declared its readiness to be scrutinised by any authority, including the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), over concerns about the pricing transparency of the MyKiosk initiative.
Minister Nga Kor Ming emphasised that the ministry is not only open to investigations but is also taking proactive steps against those spreading false claims. 
These include lodging police reports and alerting the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) to counter slanderous accusations.
“I would like to invite Tan Sri Azam Baki to the office for a cup of tea,” he said recently, adding that instructions were given to KPKT officers to track down TikTokers and individuals spreading false news.
Nga claimed that certain groups were deliberately politicising the MyKiosk project in an effort to destabilise the Madani Government.
He sees their tactic as an effort to tarnish the government’s image so that MCA will leave and join PN.
He pointed out that as a partner in the Unity Government, the MCA should be playing a supportive role instead of creating friction.
Addressing allegations that project tenders were handed to cronies, Nga refuted the claims, arguing that it would be implausible for all 795 awarded contractors to be linked to him.
He also highlighted that Johor received the highest number of kiosks, 1,185,with local councillors there coming from the MCA.
“Johor received the most. Is the MCA asleep, senile, or simply not doing their job? They tendered, they won the award, and now they’re upset.If you’re ignorant, that’s one thing, but don’t be arrogantly ignorant,” he said.
MyKiosk 2.0, according to Nga, has undergone significant upgrades, including tripled solar power capacity, now lasting up to 12 hours. Other improvements include adjustable shelving, a sloped roof, and hydraulic windows.
“The roof is made of galvanised steel and powder-coated to ensure better quality. You wouldn’t expect a BMW to cost the same as a (Perodua) Kancil, would you?” he said.
