KUALA LUMPUR: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has been sworn in as Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister.
In the swearing-in ceremony at Istana Negara here at 5pm on Thursday (Nov 24), the Pakatan Harapan chairman took the oath of office before the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri'ayatuddin Al- Mustafa Billah Shah.

Updated: 4 hours ago8 minutes agoAnwar: Monday (Nov 28) is public holidayNext Monday (Nov 28) will be a public holiday, said newly-appointed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
“I will discuss with the chief secretary because I have promised for a holiday on Monday this week, but this wasn’t settled last Monday.
“God-willing, this (impasse) is settled today (Nov 24) and I will fulfil my promise to have a holiday next Monday,” said Anwar in a press conference at a golf club in Sungai Long.
8 minutes ago9.22pm: A Parliamentary seating will be held on Dec 19, and the first order of business besides the oath taking ceremony will be a motion of confidence to prove the legitimacy of the government formed, said Anwar.
“So the concern of legitimacy will not arise,” he said in response to Perikatan Nasional chief Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin for him to prove that he has the numbers.

Near the start of his press conference, Anwar apologised as he needed to take a phone call from Turkiye President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.
"I'm asking for a bit more time as the Turkiye president requested to speak with me.
"I tried getting him (Erdogan) for two hours just now, so I apologise," said Anwar briefly.
an hour agoParti Sarawak Bersatu (PSB) secretary-general Baru Bian has congratulated Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim on his appointment as Prime Minister.
"We are thankful that a leader who has consistently championed truth and justice has finally been vindicated and given an opportunity to lead our country during this challenging time," he said in a statement.
Baru also called for a national truth and reconciliation commission to be set up as a move towards national rebuilding.

“I pray that the new government will be able to continue political stability and continue to preserve the country’s economic sustainability,” he said.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim leaves Istana Negara at 6.36pm.
Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Acryl Sani Abdullah Sani has also left the Istana Negara followed by DAP secretary-general Anthony Loke and Amanah president Mohamad Sabu. Armed Forces chief Jen Tan Sri Affendi Buang left the palace via the Gate 2 entrance as well.

4 hours agoUmno secretary general-general Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan expressed his hopes to newly minted Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as he was being sworn in as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia.
Ahmad, in his tweet which he tagged Anwar in at about 5.31pm, said he hoped that the prime minister would focus on eradicating poverty and lower cost of living.
This, he said, included increasing government coffers while focusing on the education and training of the nation's youth.
"Be fair to all races. Make Malaysia great at the international level," Ahmad said.
